Down, West Sussex. The jar forms part of the founding collection of the Pitt Rivers Museum, assembled by General Pitt-Rivers before 1884. Pitt-Rivers excavated a number of sites in West Sussex, and acquired this jar from James Medhurst, who excavated it.
